About Shawn

Shawn is a native of Western New York. A father of two, husband and military officer in the Air National Guard.

Shawn’s passion for public service began with his upbringing. The son of a single mother, his family’s income allowed him to enroll in head start. A program devoted to lower-income students.

His dedication to giving back to the community became his passion as we joined the Air Force at 21 and ran for office in Amherst, NY.

As a former teacher in a one-room schoolhouse in Texas, President Johnson believed strongly that education was the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. This notion led to the Head Start Program which began in 1975. The program was designed to help break the cycle of poverty, providing preschool children of low-income families with a comprehensive program to meet their emotional, social, health, nutritional, and psychological needs.

Born in 1980 I was fortunate enough to take advantage of the Head Start program. Since graduating high school I pursued opportunities that allow me to give back to the community and country that had the foresight and ambition to provide opportunities for all children regardless of wealth. This gratitude and passion had led me to all over The United States and onto the career paths I’m currently following. Captain United States Air Force and Amherst Town Board and. These professions each allow me the opportunity to provide positive change in my community.
